This contribution examines the Holy See’s commitment to addressing contemporary social challenges, emphasizing the crucial importance of teaching social morality. The core principle is Integral Human Development, defined as the full growth of the person across every dimension: physical, social, cultural, moral, and spiritual. Rooted in the Church’s doctrinal tradition, it is intimately linked to the ministry of evangelization. Pope Francis expands this concept, urging the rejection of the detrimental “technocratic paradigm,” which contradicts reality, in favor of a paradigm of care and attention, allowing the marginalized to become protagonists of social change. The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development implements this vision through a structured synodal process encompassing three phases: Listening and Dialogue, Research and Reflection, and Communication and Restitution. This work offers pastoral orientations and responses designed to confront “structural sins” that violate human dignity and worsen global inequalities.
