Abstract

Cette étude présente et évalue de façon critique l’ouvrage du théologien méthodiste D. S. Long, The Perfectly Simple Triune God. Aquinas and His Legacy (2016).

This paper critically presents and evaluates the work of Methodist theologian D. S. Long, The Perfectly Simple Triune God. Aquinas and His Legacy (2016). Starting from the criticism of the traditional representation of a simple and perfect God, whose motives he explains and presents in its different currents (Process theology, Open Theism, analytical theology, contextual theologies…), D. S. Long offers an “aggiornamento” of traditional doctrine as he finds it both in Saint Thomas and in the theologians of the Reformation. Despite some limitations in the interpretation of Aquinas’ De Deo, the work constitutes an excellent introduction to the current problematic of the doctrine on God.
