Jusqu’au Concile Vatican II, la concélébration eucharistique a été peu fréquente dans l’Église latine. Sacrosanctum Concilium en étend la pratique, que des textes et un certain usage ont fini par rendre ordinaire. Pour que la concélébration manifeste l’unité du sacerdoce ministériel, certaines conditions doivent être respectées, l’essentiel restant l’Eucharistie célébrée, actualisation du sacrifice de la croix et de l’ensemble du mystère pascal. Des abus faciles peuvent distendre le rapport personnel du prêtre au Christ et désacraliser une pratique dont la vérité et la beauté réclament peut-être une modération plus conforme à une juste herméneutique du Concile.
Until Vatican Council II, eucharistic concelebration was not frequent in the Latin Church. Sacrosanctum Concilium extended this practice, and certain texts and customs facilitated its becoming ordinary. For the concelebration to manifest the unity of the ministerial priesthood, some conditions have to be respected ; what is essential is the celebration of the Eucharist, the actualization of the sacrifice of the Cross and of the entire paschal mystery. A certain liturgical laxity can damage the personal relationship of the priest with Christ, and profane a practice whose truth and beauty demand a moderation which must be evermore conformed to an exact hermeneutic of the Council.
